www.dannasmile.com What are some of the issues that can cause Bad Breath Undiagnosed Periodontal Disease is the leading cause of bad breath Dry Mouth is a leading contributor to bad breath due to the decrease in saliva brought on by: -prescription meds -OTC meds -Systemic Disease -harsh toothpaste/mouth rinses containing alcohol Sinus issues/drainage Stomach issues -Acid Reflux -Irritable Bowel syndrome -Ulcers Excess Sugar consumption -Frequent sips of soda or juice throughout the day -Frequent snacking on food high in sugar and/or carbohydrates Hidden Sugars in -Gum, Mints, Hard Candies -Water with high sugar content ie, Propel -Sports Drinks ie, Gatorade -Coffee/Tea - sugar and/or cream added to sweeten -Specialty drinks - ie, Starbucks coffee and tea, Smoothies What can be done to prevent Bad Breath Home Care should be meticulous: -Brushing twice a day and flossing once a day -Remove any coating on tongue by brushing or using a tongue scraper Complete treatment of Periodontal disease Have your teeth cleaned on the appropriate schedule as determined with your dentist or dental hygienist.
